Latigo Leather

Posted by Helpful Crowd on

Bushcrafts Latigo leather is strong and durable. USA cowhides are tanned twice for extra tensile strength then treated for extreme outdoor use with an infusion of tallow, waxes, and oils.  Latigo Leather is denser than English Bridle leather due to the tanning process, yet it has a softer feel and remains more flexible.

Latigo is a working utility leather not necessarily designed for show. It repels sweat, rain, and snow but requires very little or no maintenance.

Typically used for heavy-duty saddlery applications and more specifically used as the cinch straps (appropriately called, Latigos) that hold western style saddles onto working horses. Cowboy ranchers and rodeo riders trust their safety in Latigo for its ability to maintain strength after repeated soakings in horse sweat and exposure to the harshest elements.
