Presenting a small batch of Bushcrafts Original Slings in OD Green.
This is a limited run. There are 12 available. I won't be making any more of these anytime soon, if ever.
The leather is 100% American, tanned in St. Louis, MO. The hides came from the tannery dry, without any oils infused; they're only dyed a light shade of green. In the shop, I hand-rubbed them with a heated mixture of pure neatsfoot oil combined with natural beeswax sourced from a local farm. This process darkens the leather, provides excellent protection from the elements, and softens it just enough to form the braids and keepers.
The edges are beveled and rounded over, then burnished by hand the old-fashioned way with saddle soap.
The slings come with Bushcrafts signature all-leather keepers, which have been dipped in harness oil after forming to give them a darker color for contrast.
In the pictures, the slings and keepers were oiled less than 12-24 hours earlier. The color will lighten up and smooth out once the treatment has fully soaked in. But the leather can also darken slightly again when exposed to sunlight.
